All the participants are requested to give poster presentations in the poster session on Tuesday (March 12). The dimensions of poster should not exceed 90 cm (36 inches) in width and 120 cm (48 inches) in height. The heading title should be typed in large letters greater than 30mm. The text and figures should be clearly legible from a distance of 2m.

Short oral presentations are scheduled in roundtable discussions. Based on submitted abstracts, the Science Program Committee (SPC) will choose a number of up to 5 speakers for each session and decide the order of the presentations. After the submission of abstracts, the SPC or chairpersons may directly contact session participants and request additional information, including figures, tables or pictures, for selecting speakers. The time assigned for the oral presentations will be at the discretion of chairpersons and may vary with speakers.

The official language of the workshop is English. No translation will be provided.

Exhibitions:

There will be exhibitions by sponsoring institutions and companies in another room of the hall during the workshop. Governmental organizations are welcomed to participate in exhibitions. Please contact the Workshop Secretariat, if you like to take this opportunity to advertise your activities.

Abstract Submission:

Abstracts are requested for all presentations. A Word-RTF (Rich Text Format) file of the abstract with all the information on the Abstract Submission Form must be sent via e-mail to the Workshop Secretariat (isrl@nirs.go.jp) by November 30th, 2001. The form (Word-RTF format file) can be downloaded from this web site. Not more than one file of the abstract is requested as attachment to an e-mail message. Please ensure that the subject head of the e-mail has to be "Abstract for IWSSRR-2". Abstracts sent by facsimile will NOT be accepted.

Guidelines for abstracts

The entire abstract in the Word-RTF format should not exceed 18 cm in width and 12 cm in height, including title, author(s), name(s), affiliation, city and country. Please follow the example abstract form but do not draw a frame.

ABSTRACT FORMAT FOR THE INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP ON SPACE RADIATION RESEARCH

Please state clearly the purpose of study and conclusion(s) using Times New Roman 10-point font - NOT bold or italic. Abstracts should have approximately 300 words - including: title, authors and institution. Abstracts must be typed single spaced, aligned to the left. The abstract title should be in CAPITAL LETTERS. Leave one blank line under the title. The presenting author should be underlined. Following the author(s) name (first name and then surname), affiliation/institution including city, state, postal code and country should appear. Leave one blank line before beginning the body of the abstract. Abbreviations should be used for common terms only after the first full use of the word.

Proceeding Submission:

The proceedings of selected presentations will be published in the Journal of Radiation Research. According to recommendations from session chairpersons, the Science Program Committee will finally select presentations from a broad scope soon after the workshop. Instructions for making manuscripts will be informed to corresponding authors. To make selection process more efficient, participants are requested whether or not they intend to publish their presentations as original papers.

Financial Assistance for Young Participants:

The workshop organizers will provide financial assistance to a limited number of young participants. The financial assistance will cover the registration fee and a part of room charges at the designated hotel during the workshop. Priority recipients are under 35 years old. The workshop secretariat will accept application via e-mail (isrl@nirs.go.jp) by November 30, 2001. Please include your birthday and age as of the deadline indicated above in the application. The priority age and total funds allocated may change depending upon the situations of applications actually filed. Recipients selected by the Local Organizing Committee will be notified by December 25, 2001.
