VENUE
General Information:
The workshop will be held at the Nara-ken Public Hall in Nara city. Nara was the oldest capital of Japan about 1300 years ago (A.D. 710-784) and Buddhism in Japan first flourished there. The city was the cradle of Japanese culture. Many historic architectures and artistic crafts in quiet atmosphere will make you feel peace of mind. Walking in the streets is like strolling through the pages of history.
Kyoto is located about 30km north from Nara city.
Currency exchange service is available at international airports and banks. Most hotels, restaurants and shops accept major credit cards. Banks are open at 9:00-15:00 on weekdays.
Restaurants. One restaurant will be available on the 1st floor of the hall during lunch time. There are several restaurants in walking distance. Free coffee and soft drinks will be provided during every coffee break of the workshop.
Electricity. The standard electricity condition is 100 V in voltage and 60Hz in frequency. In Eastern part of Japan (Tokyo, Chiba, etc.), the frequency is 50Hz.
Climate. The weather in Nara in mid-March is good but cold. Temperature is expected to be about 10¡ëC in average, ranging from 1¡ëC to 15¡ëC.
Access to Nara:
Nara lies in central part of Japan and can be reached conveniently via the Osaka/Kansai International Airport by bus or train (about 2 hours). The following transportation are available:
1) Limousine Bus (Fare: JPY 1,800, Time: Approx. 90 min.)
Take Limousine bus from Osaka/Kansai International Airport to JR Nara Station via Nara Hotel and Kintetsu Nara Station. The bus leaves every 60 minutes from a bus stop of No.10.
2) JR Train (Fare: JPY 1,660, Time: Approx. 90 min.)
Take JR Kansai-kuko Line from Osaka/Kansai International Airport to JR Tennoji Station (about 50 minutes). And take Yamatoji Kaisoku Train from JR Tennoji Station to JR Nara Station (about 30minutes).
3) Limousine Bus and Kintetsu Line (Fare: JPY 1,840, Time: Approx. 90 min.)
Take Limousine bus from Osaka/Kansai International Airport to Kintetsu Uehonmachi Station for about 55 minutes. The bus leaves every 15 to 20 minutes from bus stop No. 7. Take the Kintetsu Nara Line from Kintetsu Uehonmachi Station to Kintetsu Nara Station for about 35 minutes. The train runs about every 15minutes.
