Introduction

The primary role of this section is to develop new generic methods of radiolabeling with 11C, 18F,13N and other nuclides, and new methods for improving radiolabeling techniques. These techniques are likely to be of value in future radiopharmaceutical development. On the other hand, the specific activity of PET probes made in this facility already exceeds that of other facilities by 1-2 orders of magnitude. The section is to develop techniques for producing positron nuclides as well as PET probes with ultra-high specific activity.

Research Introduction

The main challenges facing this section are :

  1. Practical synthesis of radioligand containing [18F]fluorobenzene moiety
  2. Construction of 11C-C bond using 11CO, 11CH3NO2, etc.
  3. Production of ultra-high specific activity of 18F and PET probes
  4. Development of radiolabeling techniques using 124I and 76Br
  5. Labeling and evaluation of new PET probes
  6. Optimization of known PET probes using miscellaneous radioactive intermediates based on in vivo structure-activity relationships
