Molecular Probe Group Director Toshimitsu Fukumura (Ph.D.)

introduction

This group has developed
1) a wide variety of PET radiopharmaceuticals for clinical application and basic research with animals, 2) various kinds of automated apparatus and an integrated production system to produce safe radiopharmaceuticals with less radiation exposure to personnel, 3) techniques of achieving ultra-high specific activity of radiopharmaceuticals to allow various types of studies in ultra-low concentration regions with ultra-low doses. Furthermore, we intend to develop 1) new radiopharmaceuticals to enable the measurement of more versatile bio-functions, 2) construction of a practical and available molecular probe library for promoting more advanced studies of PET molecular imaging, not only by NIRS researchers but also by researchers from outside, as a key research center in Japan. Also, we intend to contribute to society by 1) contracting research with private companies for performing evaluation of automated apparatus, quality check of products produced by a new apparatus, 2) contracting analysis of FDG solution from other outside PET facilities, 3) cooperation with pharmaceutical companies for clinical trials, 4) human resources training, and so on.
