10th WRMISS Workshop on Radiation Monitoring for the International Space Station September 7 (Wed) - 9 (Fri), 2005 Chiba, Japan

The Workshop on Radiation Monitoring for the International Space Station (WRMISS) has been held annually since 1996. The major purpose of WRMISS is to provide a forum for discussion of technical issues concerning radiation dosimetry aboard the International Space Station. This includes discussion of new results, improved instrumentation, detector calibration, and radiation environment and transport models. The goal of WRMISS is to enhance international efforts to provide the best information on the space radiation environment in low-Earth orbit and on the exposure of astronauts and cosmonauts in order to optimize the radiation safety of the ISS crew. The 10th Annual WRMISS will be held at the National Institute for Radiological Sciences (NIRS) in Chiba, Japan on 7-9 September 2005.

•     Calibration of instruments using different ground-based reference fields
•     Results from the ICCHIBAN intercomparison experiments

The ICCHIBAN-7 and -8 experiments using the NIRS HIMAC heavy ion accelerator will be conducted immediately following the conclusion WRMISS workshop. The schedule of beam time is Sep. 13th to Sep. 17th, 2005. The ICCHIBAN project is dedicated to the intercomparison of space radiation instruments with ground-based accelerator beams.
